Ohlone wallahin basket, ca. 1900

This basket was made by the Tamian, Ohlone, people and used as a seed winnower or wallehin to separate seeds from the soil. The basket is made of local twined sedge, horsetail root, and willow or hazel. It features a woven diamond pattern with one dark row across the back.
