Okimono figure Rakan

In Japan, the term rakan or arakan is used to describe the disciples of Buddha. In the okimono figure in the museum collection, the rakan is portrayed according to tradition. It has the face of an old bald man, with an expressive look, a frail body, and the modest garments of a Buddhist monk.
