The work Old Campus in Pan Xi (磐溪老校园) is an elaborate work created by Pan Yun in his early years and it is also an important and telling witness of the changing history in National College of Art. In 1945, China won the War of Resistance Against Japan and the campus was about to move back to Hangzhou. Before the move, the artist drew a panorama of the old campus, which located in Hei Yuanqiang Community, Panxi, Chongqing, as a gift for academic dean Xie Haiyan. It also has signatures of President Lin Fengmian, Pan Tianshou, Chen Zhifo and Lv Fengzi. The painting is based on the real scene. And the two stone pillows are exactly the gates of National College of Art.
