A man walking on a path on the island of Værøy, with high mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Kittelsen studied in München and Paris for eleven years but had to return back home caused by lack of financial support for his artistry. Upon his return to Norway, he lived with his sister and her husband in Kragerø, who he also followed when his brother in law got a job in Lofoten as a keeper of a lighthouse. He stayed with them for two years. He is best known for his epic fairytale paintings and drawings and is said to be the person who defined how the Norwegian troll looks like.
