Ge Garden
Yangzhou, China

Covering an area of 2.4 ha., Geyuan Garden was originally the residence of Huang Zhiyun who served as the Head of Lianghuai Saltern in 1818, namely, the 23rd year of Emperor Jiaqing’s reign of the Qing dynasty (1644-1912 AD). It is the most time-honored and well-preserved salt merchants’ residential garden in Yangzhou, and is also regarded as one of the “Four Most Famous Gardens in China”, the rest three of which are the Summer Palace (Yihe Yuan) in Beijing, the Summer Mountain Resort (Bishu Shanzhuang) in Chengde and the Humble Administrator’s Garden (Zhuozheng Yuan) in Suzhou.
