When we talk about migrants we often make the mistake of merely reducing their lives and their stories, to the journey they made to reach our country or to the reasons that forced them to leave their homes.
This project intends to take on the challenge of looking beyond it all, of opening the invisible talents and skills which every migrant brings with them.
That’s why the workshops of the Silent Academy came to be. Artists and master craftsmen make their know-how available to citizens, thereby creating a process of real integration, based on the exchange of knowledge and side-by-side work with people with different values. This is an opportunity that will eventually certify the skills acquired and give back to migrants their dreams and their identity.
The workshops and iconic clothes created under the direction of the recently deceased Ivorian designer Eloi Sessou are fondly remembered.
