The banknote is dedicated to the innovative and courageous figure of Maria Montessori, an illustrious pedagogue, educator and doctor. It's one of the most colorful banknotes in the history of the Lira. On the right front we see the expressive face of the illustrious scholar in a burgundy monochrome, completed by the vertical inscription of the name, while, at the base of the portrait, are written the names of the artists who made the banknote: GIO PINO INV. AND F. ZANNOTTI INC. The front print is completed by various decorative elements: in the central part there is a motif made with overlapping series of polychrome circular backgrounds, which intersect with a curved line that outlines a boyish profile on a puzzle background. On the left, in filigree, the face of the protagonist and the monogram B.I. of the Bank of Italy in an arabesque knot. At the top we find the value clearly expressed in numbers and in burgundy letters, with the same color of the tondo with the mark bearing the lion of Venice.
