A kitchen scene in the cookbook by Bartolomeo Scappi published in 1570. Scappi (presumably after 1500-1577) was a famous Italian cook and became famous through his cookbook published in 1570, in which he preserved Renaissance cuisine for subsequent generations by writing down around 1,000 recipes. His work also deals with cooking techniques and with kitchen equipment. Scappi revolutionised the cooking of his age through the use of new means of preparation and new foodstuffs imported from America.
