Oral history recorded for the Bronx African American History Project on May 14, 2021 with Jane McKenzie Poindexter, who grew up in the United Workers Cooperative Colony, or the Allerton Coops, located at 2700 Bronx Park East. Jane's father was a Guyanese national of African descent and her mother an Ashkenazi Jew from Poland. In her oral history, Jane speaks about her family history and background, her experience growing up in the Coops, her own life as an activist, her time in Mexico, and much more.
