The following order is one of four French departmental awards. Established on 7th July 1883 by Minister of Agriculture Jules Méline to reward for merits in agriculture. The star of the order is superimposed on a wreath of corn and wheat ears. The award is tied to an oval wreath of olive leaves and figs. The center on the obverse bears an image of Marianne’s head, the symbol of France. The order is still being awarded
