Adelaide, Australia

Plate depicts a man and women in traditional Polish dress engaged in a traditional dance. The word "KOTOMYJKA" is written at their feet. This plate features red, green, and gold decorations around the rim. These objects were the personal possessions of an immigrant to South Australia. They were brought to Australia with her because they depict important ties to Poland traditions, and to her cultural heritage. Like many objects that migrants take with them, these plates represent ties to a person's past and to their ongoing identity.
