P.C.Mahalanobis at the conference on standardization and Quality Control at ISI (Presidency College Premises) 08.02.1948

During Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis's visit to the USA in 1946, he met Dr. walter A. Shewhart and two became close friends. It was at the instance of Mahalanobid that Shewhart was invited to visit India the next year . The visit created a wide interest among industrialists and a Conference on Standardization and Quality Control was held in Calcutta in 1948.
