Transcription reads as follows:

"Dear Folks at home:

I am afraid to think how long it has been since I have written home but I expected it has been longer than I think-Time just simply flies.

My a week ago today was an exciting day. The people here just went wild- Langley and I had a half day and went down town- such a crowd. It was worse that an Fourth of July celebration at home. It lasted for about three days & nights. I was glad to go home by dark for it was wetting wilder every minute and you can imagine the number of drunk people when whine etc. flow like water and is drunk more than water-

Didn’t things come to an end suddenly though- I didn’t expect it to end yet for a while- I don’t know when we will be coming home but I don’t suppose it will be long. I suppose we will be the first as we are with the British and they won’t be needing us much longer- I am sorry I didn’t get up to the front- I would like to see ‘No Mans Land”- the Miss Thomases [sic] and Miss Arthur are back and Miss Thomas brought me a large shell case and one of my boys gave me another to match it- My box hasn’t come yet but I expect it will be here some of these days- I sure will be glad to get those stocking as I have chilblains on nearly every toe and the bottoms of my feet as well- They aren’t too bad yet though just nice & fat. I have one on one of my little fingers too- I haven’t heard any more from Clyde I sure with he would write oftener- I see by todays paper that his division is to be one of the division for army of occupation- I wouldn’t mind that if I were he-

The papers came and thanks very much- Havent [sic] had time but just glance at them. The children’s pictures came the other evening too and they certainly are fine. Some of the nurses though. Little Margaret looked like me- I thought that was quite a compliment."
