Federal Postal Minister Kurt Gscheidle welcomes the participants to the test runs of BTX. The roots for this technology began in Great Britain. It was there that Sam Fedida of the British Post Office carried out a system study under the name "ViewData"—later known as the PRESTEL system. He created the conditions for television receivers, telephones, and electronic data processing systems to be able to generate and store text and image information together.
