When founding libraries, maintaining the old books was as much important as the acquisition of the new ones. The religious work “The Path to Heaven” by the German Augustian Stephan von Landskron (c. 1412-1477) was dedicated to the society of that time, which did not know Latin. The effort to restore it reveals the need for the book. In the 16th century, an unknown person rewrote the book and pasted the missing pages and the pages themselves. In order to match the original, the necessary places of the text were marked in red ink.
