When midsummer’s night becomes midsummer’s day, the lovers are reunited, the fairies return to the woods, and after his strange adventure Bottom rejoins his fellow mechanicals. A wedding is about to take place. As evening descends, cabaret descends into chaos.
In theatre, as in life, comedy is a serious business. These dramatically challenged artisans take themselves very seriously. Their deconstructed tuxedos have been carefully decorated with satins, brocades and sequins to make a suitable flashy impression on the royal audience. Suitably ruffed and accessorised, Starveling, Bottom and Snout become Moon, Wall and the heroic Pyramus.
