Painting the forms

Once block printed the outline forms depicted on the Mata Ni Pachedi are painted in. The painting is usually done by the women of the family. The format of the ritual textile is such that the largest design used extends to a length of 2 feet and a width of 1.5 feet and is composed in four distinct parts.

Here the artists are painting in the mordant Alum.
