"Iberê’s work did not undergo great modifications in formal terms after his move to Rio de Janeiro, as demonstrated by the landscapes from this period, but it would experience a considerable shift in his approach to the subject matter. The landscapes become more fluid, more lyrical, less concerned with literal transcription of the real and more involved in subjective perception of the object. These are certainly the effects of coming into contact with the landscape paintings being produced by artists with a lyrical temperament, such as Candido Portinari and Alberto da Veiga Guignard." Paulo Gomes, Iberê e seu ateliê: as coisas, as pessoas e os lugares (Porto Alegre: Fundação Iberê Camargo, 2015), 157.
Research has uncovered Iberê's participation in a 1956 Guggenheim Museum exhibition in New York, although the presence of this specific work in that show has never been confirmed.
The proofs belong to the Fundação Biblioteca Nacional collection.
