Palazzo Madama - First Floor - the Ballroom

Palazzo Madama

Palazzo Madama
Torino, Italy

Made in 1927-1928 as the building’s stateroom, the Ballroom was created by knocking down the wall between two rooms which were referred to in the eighteenth century as the “Pages’ Room” and the “Parade Room”. The antique-style decoration ceiling was made by painter and restorer Carlo Cussetti, who adopted the layout of the vault in architectural divisions with sky in the background, which already existed in the southern end of the room. The restored ballroom was fitted out with new shutters and with panels over the doors, in imitation of baroque interiors.
