The Sexual harrasment of women in public places is ubiquitous in Africa where women also face high levels of domestic violence. Religion, patriachal societies, low literacy levels and cultural expectations create a potent mix that oftens promotes violence against women. In this panel, Arit Okpo examined the struggles of three women tirelessly agitating for safety of women in public places; the resistance to their movements from men, and the victories their activism has yielded.
