The Parrot climbing upside down on a tree trunk was represented by Johann Joachim Kaendler as if captured in a snapshot. With its tail stretched upwards and its wings slightly spread, the exotic life-size bird winds its way up the tree and thus becomes a sculpture of the overlapping feathers creates an extremely lively and sculptural impression. Like no other artist Kaendler was a master at transforming natural models with their typical features into a work of art characterized by his individual style.
