Here, a Belgian woman makes passementerie, or decorative braid and ribbon trim that was used in clothing and furnishings. She uses a a press and belt-driven spooling machine to twist the materials. You can see finished spools above her on the shelf on the left, and empty spools on the floor in the foreground.
