Pathe Freres

This is a cartoon poster of the Pathé Brothers and their trademark cockerel. In 1896, the brothers set up their film newsreel service, Société Pathé Frères, in Paris.

By 1910, they were established in the UK and showed news films under the title Pathé Animated Gazette. Many of their newsreels were filmed by local filmmakers such as Ernest Symmons, who also features later in this exhibition.
