Patrolling the Vineyard

M. Sgt. Martin Cervantez jointed this patrol during his 2011 deployment to Afghanistan and documented it with photographs and sketches. The artist was particularly captivated by the rolling terrain of the vineyard, as it provided both an interesting visual element and an inherent danger to the Soldiers on patrol, as insurgents could hide easily in the trenches.
