UNESCO World Heritage

This wooden pearl merchant’s chest (bishtakhta) bears testimony to the pearling trade of Al Zubarah. The chest was used for holding collected pearls and measuring equipment, and traces of red cloth suggest that it was lined. It is now on view at the National Museum of Qatar.
