During the last two decades, in Indonesia, forest fires have been an annual occurrence, as farmers and agricultural companies have been clearing the country’s forests and carbon-rich peatlands mainly to make way for pulpwood, palm oil and rubber plantations. After the 2015 fires spread to their forest reserve, more than 200 orangutans were evacuated. Obviously, many other animals and plants are continuously suffering from these forest fires due to humans activities. Those unique ecosystems are suffering only because of human activities.
