Pedro de Froilaz Sepulchre

Image showing the sepulchre of Don Pedro Froilaz, Count of Traba, with its corresponding lying sculpture, which is located in the Chapel of Relics in Santiago Cathedral. This tomb, together with five others, makes up the Royal Pantheon of Compostela.

The figure is identified in the inscription on the front of the sepulchre, which emphasises his work as the monarch's mentor. With regard to the sculpture, it is worth highlighting the way in which the figure's face is treated, due to the expressive force of his face.

He is depicted at an advanced age, dressed in armour and helmet, holding a sword in his hands and with a greyhound at his feet.
