Perforated Disk

Small, relatively thick perforated disk, manufactured from micaceous schist, with an off-center biconical perforation. Pecking marks still cover most of one face, and recessed portions of the other. There are two deep straight scratches, running perpendicular to each other on the second face. This perforated disk was recovered from a pit located in a habitation area of the Pueblo Grande site. Pueblo Grande was a large village located at the headgates of a major canal system. Occupied as early as AD 500, the site reached its greatest extent during the Classic Period.
