A film about the life of the social reformer, rationalist and anti-Brahminical cruseder Periyar E. V. Ramasamy Naicker aka Periyar who launched a crusade against caste discrmination in Tamil Nadu. His life became inspiration to several Chief Ministers including Annadurai and M Karunanidhi. Periyar's role in Anti-Hindi agitation and Vaikom struggle also resonates in the film.
