George Agostinho Baptista da Silva (Porto, February 13, 1906 - Lisbon, April 3, 1994) was a Portuguese philosopher, poet, essayist, teacher, philologist, pedagogue and translator. His thought combines elements of pantheism, millenarianism and ethics of renunciation, affirming Freedom as the most important quality of the human being. Agostinho da Silva can be considered a practical philosopher committed, through his life and work, to changing society. He spent considerable time in Brazil.
