Delahaye is another forgotten French luxury vehicle manufacturer. The Delahaye 135M, also known as the Coupe Des Alpes, was introduced in 1935 as a result of the Delahaye brand’s successful involvement in Alpine mountain races, as well as a demonstration of the company’s devotion to the development of the sporty (but also luxury) vehicles. This automobile has a sporting success, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1937 and the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1938. Although the Delahaye brand is no longer in existance, the concepts underlying the 135M Coupe Des Alpes surely influenced the creation and success of an entire European automobile development line – compact sporty cars like the third BMW
