A few years after our republican life was inaugurated, photography arrives into Peru (1842). The change of status from Viceroyalty to Nation did not determine the variation in the forms of representation of characters poured into artistic genres, although it did determine a predilection for the academic style. In the case of the portrait, whether in painting or photography format, the people who could commission or pay for the service sought to be represented reflecting their social status and elite attributes. For such purposes, the characters wore their best clothes, using various jewels or elements of distinction, and even posing in an ornate set.
