Mercedes Cabello Llona de Carbonera (Moquegua, 1842 - Lima, 1909) was a Peruvian writer and intellectual, representative of Peruvian female essayism. Cabello held a literary position that advocated for the critical and realistic novel. Following her ideals, she published some titles such as "Blanca Sol" and "The conspirator", and later the essay "The modern novel", which was awarded internationally. She also published poetry. Also, Cabello advocated for equality between women and men and for the education of women.
