Mercedes Cabello Llona de Carbonera (Moquegua, 1842 - Lima, 1909) was a Peruvian writer and intellectual, representative of Peruvian female essayism. She is recognized as part of the first generation of Spanish-American women writers, who made their way to participate in the public debate, beyond the customary female domestic space. She participated in the literary evenings that the writer Juana Manuela Gorriti organized, a space where she read some of her writings, with topics such as the importance of literature and the need for the education of women.
