Teresa Gonzalez de Fanning (Ancash, 1836-Lima, 1918) was an educator, writer and journalist, part of the generation of illustrated Peruvians of the 19th century. She's recognized as a promoter of the integral education of women - training them beyond the orientation towards marriage and conjugal tasks. She founded a school for young ladies at her home in Lima, where she put her educational approaches into practice. From a young age she was oriented to literary creation, doing it simultaneously to her educational work and abandoning the use of pseudonyms. She wrote novels as well as newspaper articles.
