Photographic lobby card for the Hindi film 'Jhansi Ki Rani' (The Queen of Jhansi), released in the year 1953.

The card shows a performance from the court of King Gangadhar and Queen Jhansi called 'Sher Aur Shola' presented in honour of the queen by the king. In the frame, towards the right, King Gangadhar (Mubarak) and Queen Jhansi (Mehtab) are sitting next to each other, enjoying the show. Towards the bottom right corner, a group of musicians is sitting. Towards the left and the farther background in the centre, other spectators including Company officers and royalty are sitting. Two story-performers
in costumes are posing in front of the king and the queen in the centre of the frame. There are five female dancers in the foreground, all arranged in a line towards the bottom left area of the image. Starting from the lower half of the left border, a series of illustrations continues till the left half of the bottom border, leading the way towards the credits. On the left border, from top to bottom, first comes an illustration of possibly King Gangadhar's palace/court from the outside, overlapping with that is an illustration of the character Rajguru, played by Sohrab Modi. There is a small sized logo of Minerva Production on the bottom left corner. The illustration continues onto the bottom border, with a book, an army and finally Queen Jhansi mounted on a horse. Next to the illustration of the queen is the name 'Jhansi
Ki Rani' (English) and under it is 'Color by TECHNICOLOR'. Under this, a little towards the right is the film's name in Devanagari script and then in Urdu script in the next line, shifiting a little further to the right. In the last line on the bottom is 'PRODUCED
& DIRECTED BY SOHRAB MODI'. All the illustrations and credits are printed in a deep red/brown pigment.
