Photographic still produced for the 1971 Hindi film, Guddi, featuring Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan. Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Gulzar, the film starred Dharmendra, Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, Utpal Dutt and A. K. Hangal among others. The film propelled Jaya Bachchan (née Bhaduri)'s career and was a musical hit, the song "Bole Re Papihara" becoming particularly popular. Guddi provides a rare behind-the-scenes look at the movie industry in Bombay during the late 1960s and early 1970s and featured cameos from a lot of the major actors and industry figures at that time including, Rajesh Khanna, Naveen Nischol, Ashok Kumar, Vinod Khanna, Mala Sinha, Shashikala, Asrani, Amitabh Bachchan, Om Prakash and Pran. It was later remade in Tamil as Cinema Paithiyam (1975) starring Jayachitra and Kamal Haasan.

- Photographic Subject(s): Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan is a Hindi film actress and parlimentarian. She is recognised as one of the finest film actresses of her time, particularly known for reinforcing a naturalistic style of acting in both mainstream and 'middle-of-the-road' cinema. Making her film debut as a teenager in Satyajit Ray's Mahanagar (1963), Bachchan's first screen role as an adult was in Guddi (1971), which became a blockbuster hit. She is known particularly for her roles in Guddi, Abhimaan, Kora Kagaaz, Mili, Uphaar, Piya ka Ghar, Koshish, Sholay and Nauker. Following her marriage to actor Amitabh Bachchan and the birth of her children, Bachchan restricted her film work in the coming years and after her appearance in the 1981 film Silsila, she took an indefinite sabbatical from films, returning to the screen only in 1998. During her career, she won eight Filmfare Awards, including three for Best Actress and three for Best Supporting Actress, which makes her the overall most-awarded performer in the female acting categories, along with Nutan. In 1992, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India; and in 2007, received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
