Photographic still produced for the 1984 Hindi film, Sharaabi, featuring Jaya Prada. Produced and directed by Prakash Mehra, Sharaabi (trans. Drunkard) was loosely based on Steve Gordon's Arthur (1981) and starred Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Prada in the lead roles, with a supporting cast that included Pran, Om Prakash, Bharat Bhushan and Ranjeet. The music was composed by Bappi Lahiri and became extremely popular, particularly the song "Inteha Ho Gayi Intezaar Ki". The film was remade in Kannada as Nee Thanda Kanike with Vishnuvardhan and Jayasudha.

- Photographic Subject(s): Jaya Prada is an Indian film actress and former member of parliment (from Rampur, 2004-2014). She has starred in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali and Marathi films. Her first taste of stardom was in Telugu cinema in the late 197os with films like Anthuleni Katha (1976), Siri Siri Muvva (1976), and the mythological, Seetha Kalyanam (1976), and Adavi Ramudu (1977). She was introduced in Kannada cinema with the 1977 hit Sanadi Appanna, in Tamil cinema in 1979 with Ninaithale Inikkum, and in the same year, in Hindi cinema with a remake of Siri Siri Muvva in Hindi as Sargam — which earned her, her first Filmfare nomination. In the 1980s, she reentered the Bollywood fray, after learning to speak Hindi and quickly rose to stardom through films such as Tohfa, Sharaabi, Sanjog, Aakhree Raasta and Aulad. With over 300 films in eight different languages, over the course of her career, Jaya Prada has been nominated for filmfare awards in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada — winning the Filmfare for Best Telugu Actress for Sagara Sangamam in 1983. Since the 1990s, as Jaya Prada's involvement with politics grew, her acting career grew far more intermittent.
