According to the legend, Chopin was born in Żelazowa Wola while his father was playing the violin. The current state of his birthplace shows the only remained outbuilding of the already nonexistent manor of Skarbek family. After Chopin's death, on 17 October 1947 the compositor's heart was brought back to Żelazowa Wola by a special delegation consisting of the priest Leopold Petrzyk - pastor of Holy Cross Church in Warsaw, professor Bolesław Woytowicz and Bolesław Sydow - a remarkable Chopinologist living in Milanówek.
