Since 2015, Raúl Rodríguez Arias has dedicated his career to creating ceramic collections that combine artisan tradition with contemporary innovation. In his work, he places particular emphasis on the artisanal process, using traditional pottery techniques to bring his pieces to life. In the PIEL DE MOURO collection, Raúl wants to show the raw material from which his pieces are made, highlighting the texture and "skin" of the ceramic by pushing it to the limit on the potter's wheel. Through his work he also recovers fragments of family ceramics, revaluing tradition and history through archaeological excavations.
His work is not limited to the creation of pieces, but also to the transmission of the craft. Raúl has worked closely with the Chamber of Commerce of Asturias and the city councils of Oviedo and Gijón in the dissemination of educational ceramic projects, especially for children. Raised in a family with a long tradition in black ceramics since the 16th century, Raúl has grown up surrounded by this legacy and has made ceramics a way of life. While maintaining the essence of traditional techniques, they have also shown a strong inclination to explore new forms and processes, always seeking a balance between artisanal tradition and the demands of contemporary design.
