Plants are important in Amazonian shamanic practises, and medicinal herbs are thought to have provided shamans with their extensive knowledge of the plant world through drug-induced visions. Plant spirits acting as doctors or teachers are thought to continue passing on their knowledge of herbal treatments to shamans or'vegetalistas' during dreams and hallucinogen-induced altered states. This aspect of the Amazonian worldview is alluded to in images of the Lindosa that are part plant and part human as the one shown in the centre of this image on the Demoledores Panel showing a plant with human legs.
