This plaque celebrates John Blanke. He was a trumpeter who performed at the funeral of English King Henry VII in 1509, and soon after, the coronation of Henry VIII. He also performed at a lavish tournament held in 1511 to celebrate the birth of a son to Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon.
This plaque was created by a BBC History team and is one of twenty placed around the world for the series Black and British: A Forgotten History. It marks a significant moment in the history of the United Kingdom.
