Platte Purchase

The Platte Purchase added the northwest corner to the state of Missouri. William Clark presided over the ceremony in which the Iowa, Sac and Fox tribes signed over their right to the land for lands in Kansas. Jeffrey Deroin signed this historic document as an interpreter and most likely greatly influenced the Iowa tribe's decision to accept the deal.
