By 1830 the town of Richmond was in decline after its Georgian heyday and there was no longer the demand for the Theatre that there once had been. The Butler company ceased to exist in 1803, but Richmond Theatre was leased occasionally by other managers and companies or at the request of local society, as in this case. This playbill from June 1833 advertises an evening of theatre under the patronage of Mrs Copley of Halnaby Hall near Richmond, North Yorkshire. Halnaby Hall was demolished in 1953.
