The mathematical rule of plus times minus equals minus is not always true. Thanks to the illness I have found that negative things that happen can and must become opportunities for revival, growth and realising what are the really important things in life.
My Venus carries various scars on her body, both physical and psychological. But despite that, she is smiling! She is smiling because you only get one life, it’s short and it has to be lived to the full! I grew up with a single mother, a woman who was so strong and independent that she gave me the will to be as courageous as her. Every scratch, every mark tells something about me. After every fall, we can pick ourselves up and decide what we want to become, day after day, scar after scar. Like the antique statues: the ones stolen most and admired most are lacking limbs or have dents. Yet they are considered beautiful, unique and marvellous, even if they are not perfect. Think of the art of kintsugi in Japan, where broken ceramics are mended with gold. Don’t forget that if something is too perfect, it means it hasn’t been used, it hasn’t lived. Life has to be enjoyed right to the end. So let’s step out, proud of our scars and #AlwaysKeepSmiling!
