Plymouth Shoal' took its cue from Plymouth’s sea coast and a series of paintings undertaken by the artist several years before. The scale of this work superseded any previous paintings by the artist and required scaffolding to be erected in Nicola’s Helston studio. When installed at Centre Court it measured just over 3.5 metres by 2.5 metres. Bealing said ‘My aim for this painting was to inject a moment of surprise, light, colour and movement to the Centre Court stairwell.’
