This book by Jo Ik (1579-1655), an outstanding man of letters who was also keenly interested in real politics, lays out his unique position in which the Neo-Confucian philosophy established by Zhu Xi (1130-1200) is combined with the 'Yangmingism' of Wang Yangming (1472-1529). The author actively participated in the effort led by Yi Won-ik (1547-1634) to expand the Uniform Land Tax Law (Daedongbeop). The book, known to be the only surviving copy in Korea, was compiled and published by the author's two great-grandchildren, Jo Ji-hang and Jo Ji-jeong.
