This banner is part of the museum's Community Banners project, 'Memories and Dreams'. It is symbolic of Polish immigrants' experiences in South Australia.
The design is a Polish paper-cutting, which has been adapted for fabric. Paper-cutting always featured the birds and flowers of Poland. Here the Australian waratah and kookaburra have been included. In doing this Krystyna Luzny achieves her aim of ‘combining Australian and Polish folk art to show one country and another joined together’.
