Collections of the Polish Historical and Literary Society.
The Polish Historical and Literary Society was founded in Paris in the 1830s by Polish political emigrants. Its collection represents regaining independence lost and preserving collective memory. The Library is unequaled as there’s no other example of a 19th-20th centuries collection that has had as a great influence on the preservation of national identity of Poles and the restoration of independence of Poland after the Treaty of Versailles. The collections, often rare, have been held in the same location for over 150 years and continue to be managed by the circles of former political emigration.
