Honolulu, United States

Featuring large red circles surrounding a larger red circle at center, this Suzani is is similar to those made in Tashkent, a city in the eastern part of Uzbekistan and today its capital. The red circles may originally have been rosettes, or they have been intended to represent the sun and moon. Today they are also associated with a certain kind of bread which has an impressed floral design in the center, not unlike the motif in the center of each red circle in the Suzani.
